What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website; similar technologies such as local storage and pixels work in a comparable way. Cookies can be “first-party” (set by this site) or “third-party” (set by external services), and “session” (deleted when you close the browser) or “persistent” (kept for a set period).

How we use cookies

We keep cookie use to a minimum. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to track you across other websites.

Categories of cookies on this site

• Strictly necessary / technical — required for the site to function. These include WordPress functional cookies set only when you log in or submit a comment, and cache identifiers set by our LiteSpeed caching layer to deliver pages quickly. Under current rules these do not require consent.
• Functional — remember basic choices to improve your experience.
• Analytics — Google Analytics 4 (provider: Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) — we use Google Analytics with IP-anonymisation to measure, in aggregate, how visitors use the site. It typically sets cookies named _ga (retention up to 2 years) and _ga_* (retention up to 2 years). These cookies are set only after you give your consent through the cookie banner; you can withdraw it at any time. Google may also act as an independent controller for its own purposes — see Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Search Console — we also use Google Search Console to monitor how the site appears in Google search results. Search Console works on aggregated server-side data and does not set cookies on visitors’ browsers, so no consent is required for it.
• Third-party content — some pages load Google Fonts (Google) and embed YouTube videos in privacy-enhanced “no-cookie” mode (Google). YouTube sets cookies only if you actively start a video. These services may receive your IP address; see Google’s own privacy and cookie policies for details.

You can accept, block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, usually under a “Privacy” or “Settings” menu. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
